Healthy and Delicious-
Did you know that dates are packed with essential nutrients?
They are one of the healthiest fruits containing high amounts of fiber, potassium and antioxidants.
Dates have a sweet and delicious caramel like flavour, making them perfect for snacking or blending into a variety of smoothies, meals and desserts.
Pick a DATE to make this healthy chocolate date spread! You can spread it on cakes, crepes, fruits and cookies.
I hope you love it as much as I do!
Fun Fact: Eating dates through the last few weeks of pregnancy is known to help ease labour or prevent the need for being induced.
Ingredients
3 C Date Paste- I used Cedar Pitted Pressed dates
1 C Hot water (or sub 1/4 C water for brewed espresso)
1 C Coconut milk- I used Roland Foods Canned Coconut Milk
1 1/4 C Cocoa powder (adjust to taste)
2 tsp Vanilla- I used McCormick Pure Vanilla Ectract
Pinch Sea Salt
Method
Place all ingredients into a high speed blender or food processor and blend until smooth.
Store in an air tight container in the fridge or in the freezer for up to 3 months.
Note: if you cannot access pressed date paste, replace with approximately 4-6 cups pitted dates. You can also soak the dates for a minute or two in warm water to soften them, then drain the water. This makes them easier to blend.
